During the 1970's when the San Diego Chargers had Dan Fouts as quarterback, in 1 particular game, both Fouts and the team were having a bad day. With 2 minutes remaining in the game, San Diego was down 14-0. Frustrations were high so the coach pulled the star Fouts and put in the backup quarterback, Bobby Douglas. As Douglas strapped on his helmet with anticipation, he bolted onto the field, heading for the huddle. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, turned to the coach and yelled, "Coach, do you want me to win the game, or just tie it?" What a great statement! Do we have that kind of confidence in Jesus Christ? Do we trust Him to just get by or to heal totally?

Anyone who knows me knows that once I see a movie one time, I have no desire to see it again. However, earlier this week, I watched "The Nativity Story" movie with my family. I had seen this movie once before, but I decided to watch it again.

James 5:20 "Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins."

Let's say that you are out at the lake one day and you spot a drowning person. What would you do? Would you ignore their desperate condition and turn the other way? Or would you throw them a life preserver? If you are the decent person I imagine that you are, I am confident that you would try to do something to save that poor soul.

But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Do you get mad every time somebody tries to correct you, or tell you what to do, because you always have to be right? If you answered yes, I am sure that you are not a happy person. You cannot change others, but you can allow God to change you so that things don't bother you anymore.

Generation after generation of Christmases are strung across the decades of family histories via journals, diaries, drawings, paintings, illustrations, photographs, and videos that stand witness to precious memories. Treasured long-standing traditions become Christmas legacies carefully fostered and presented to each new generation of children, who are taught the role they play in maintaining the family's Christmas traditions. Great unity can result from a family that focuses on celebrating and honoring the birth of Christ.

After decades of work with incarcerated youth around the world, I tend to classify religious outreaches into three different genres: conversion-based, worship-focused, and faith-education programs. Some of these programs are fear-based (eternal damnation), while others focus on the incentives of living a faithful life (healthier relationships, a life of meaning, service and salvation).
